2 November 2017; “Wreck-It Ralph” (2012) Throwback

Get ready for today’s 2nd…Blast from the Past!

Before Rich Moore earned an Oscar for his 2016 critically acclaimed film “Zootopia”, he directed this fun animated adventure flick…

King Candy: “You hit a guy, with glasses. That’s… that’s… well-played.”

“Wreck-It Ralph” released on this day November 2nd 2012, making the film 5 years old as of today.

Set in a “Toy Story”-esque world of arcade games, the film follows the eponymous character (Oscar nominee John C. Reilly) as he sets out to find a medal after getting tired of being ostracized for so long in his game “Fix-It-Felix Jr.”, only to create accidental chaos that he must fix before the arcade opens.

Fun fact; the film unsurprisingly earned an Oscar nomination, losing it to “Brave”.

Some of the film’s highlights include the “Toy Story” inspired narrative, eye-popping animation, chameleon music score by Henry Jackman, old but endearing message, and superb voice performances by Reilly, Golden Globe winner Jane Lynch, Golden Globe nominee Ed O’Neill (aka Jay Pritchett in “Modern Family”) Primetime Emmy winner Sarah Silverman, Primetime Emmy nominees Jack McBrayer, Mindy Kaling and Alan Tudyk aka Wash in “Firefly” as the excellent Mad Hatter inspired villain King Candy.

If you are looking for a highly entertaining family film that also includes nostalgia for those who grew up with certain arcade games e.g. Sonic the Hedgehog, then this is for you, or for anyone you know, who likes the aforementioned aspects.

Recommended for lovers of both Disney and video gamers.
