Get ready for today’s 3rd…Blast from the Past!
From Oscar winner Ang Lee, the director of “Sense and Sensibility” (1995), “Brokeback Mountain” (2005), and others, comes this adventure flick…
Pi Patel: “Above all: don’t lose hope.”
“Life of Pi” released on this day November 21st 2012, making the film 5 years old as of today.
Based on Yann Martel’s 2001 novel of the same name, after surviving from a disaster at sea, a spirited young man (Suraj Sharma) is determined to find his way back home by life boat transportation and forms an unforeseen bond with a vicious Bengal tiger named Richard Parker.
Fun fact: the film won 4 Oscars for Best Director, Cinematography, Original Score, and Visual Effects, making it 4 wins out of 11 nominations.
Some of the film’s highlights include the eye-popping and stunning visuals, familiar but entertaining story, and strong performances led by Sharma that also features Rafe Spall and Oscar nominee Gérard Depardieu.
On a fun note, I read the novel before watching the film adaptation.
If you are looking for a fun and vibrant adventure that also includes the essence of the indomitable human spirit, then this is for you, or for anyone you know, who likes the aforementioned aspects.
