Less than 5-word critique; adorable, heartfelt, funny, empowering, and relatable.
I read this out of preparation for the upcoming film adaptation, and it is a GOOD one. It has LGBTQ+ representation, body-positivity, family bonds, and a VERY cute romance. As I kept reading, I wished for more and more Molly and Reid interactions because those characters are just adorable once they start nerdy, cute, and funny conversations and moments, all the more reason for hoping they get together. On a personal note, my boyfriend and I share the same first-name initials; M and R, and he’s also nerdy, similar body type, wears glasses, and sweet. Talk about fate. There should definitely be more literary plus-sized heroes and heroines in the future. One of the books I’m currently reading is the next Simon-verse one; Leah on the Offbeat. Oh yes, and the writing style is beautifully and hilariously written. Everything that all characters experience in the story might relate to you in some way.
Recommended to fans of young adult romance and LGBTQ+ literature.
