⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Less than 5-word critique: compelling, thought-provoking, and surprising.

“A Torch Against the Night” for me felt like an episode of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” which is awesome because I love that show. Definitely a great sequel that is just as good as the first novel. It’s almost hard to decide which one I like most so far, both books have elements I like and are equally good in their own way, but the second story seems to grab me by far.

Without giving too much away, regarding the events from “An Ember in the Ashes”, the second tale centers on Laia and Elias as they go on a rescue mission far away from home and encounter many characters and obstacles along the way.

Tahir’s writing, like the first book, is incredibly well-written and leaves you wanting more and more.
The story is one that you will likely enjoy.
The characters, old and new, are greatly well-developed and compelling in their unique way.
The world-building expansion is awesome, much like how we are introduced to Serra and its connected lands in “An Ember in the Ashes”.
