“Twelve Years a Slave” (1853) – Solomon Northup

15 February – 19 July 2019

4/5

Not easy-to-read in terms of subject matter as well as certain and upsetting scenes, but brilliantly well-written.
You feel for the titular protagonist; Solomon Northup, the characters in bondage, and those who display compassion towards the abused.
I cried more than once, especially close to the end.
Highly recommended for those who love classic fiction as well as true stories.
Now I can finally watch its 2013 film adaptation.
