⭐⭐⭐⭐

Less than 5-word critique: adorable, compelling and at times annoying.

This is my first Ali Hazelwood novel and it wasn’t a disappointment. Mostly I enjoyed the blossoming love between the characters yet there were some irritating factors like miscommunication but nonetheless, the other fun stuff was well written.

The story follows a feisty, Marie Curie loving and nerdy female scientist named Bee, who after getting the long-awaited recognition she craves by getting to work with NASA, is shocked to discover she must work with her old university classmate Levi Ward. This guy is tall, strong, cold and hates Bee for no given reason. Until the more time they spend together, the more they see and learn from each other that seems to ignite a spark between them.

Some bits of the story were surprising in a confusing and amusing way but nevertheless for me it was a total page-turner. The characters were brilliantly and funnily written, definitely one of the instances where the side characters are just as memorable as the protagonists, except with one of them maybe being a little mishap in a narrative POV. I liked Hazelwood’s balanced writing style when doing comedic and serious moments.
