19 June 2017; “Batman Returns” (1992) Throwback

I can go on with his other features but I will stop when it gets to the early 90s.

From Tim Burton, the director of “Pee Wee’s Big Adventure” (1985), “Beetlejuice” (1988), “Batman” (1989) and “Edward Scissorhands” (1990), comes this dark and exciting superhero flick…

Catwoman: (To Penguin) “We need to talk. You see, you and I have something in common.”

“Batman Returns” was released on this day June 19th 1992, making the film 25 years old as of today.Following the events from its predecessor, the eponymous character (played by Oscar nominee Michael Keaton) must now deal with two villains, the Penguin (played superbly by Oscar nominee Danny DeVito) and the Catwoman (seductively played by Oscar nominee Michelle Pfeiffer).

Also keep a lookout for the legendary and Oscar winner Christopher Walken as the corrupt business tycoon Max Shreck.

Fun fact: the film was nominated for Best Makeup and Best Visual Effects at the 65th Academy Awards.

If you like awesome action sequences, Danny Elfman’s music, anything that feels Gothic and are a fan of the DC Comics, the aforementioned actors or the superhero genre, then this is for you or for anyone you know who likes the aforementioned aspects.

Warning: this may be scary for younger viewers due to the dark tone of the film.
