Get ready for today’s…Blast from the Past!

From Adam Shankman, the director of “A Walk to Remember” (2002), “The Pacifier” (2005) and others, comes this upbeat and charming musical…

Tracy Turnblad: “People who are different, their time is coming”.

“Hairspray” was released on this day July 20th 2007, making the film 10 years old as of today.

Set during the era of the Civil Rights Movement, specifically 1962 Baltimore, the story follows optimistic teenager Tracy Turnblad (played with charm by Golden Globe nominee Nikki Blonsky) whose dream comes true by landing a spot in “The Corny Collins Show”, a local TV dance show, and along the way, teaches other characters about integration.

Fun fact; the film was nominated for 3 Golden Globes for Best Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical, Best Actress – Comedy or Musical: Nikki Blonsky and Best Supporting Actor: John Travolta.

Also, it marks the debut of Blonsky.

If you like the cast that includes Oscar nominee John Travolta, Oscar winner Christopher Walken, Oscar nominee Michelle Pfeiffer, Oscar nominee Queen Latifah, Amanda Bynes, Zac Efron and others, as well as looking for relatable characters and a musical that you can absolutely sing along and dance to thanks to the delightful singing solos, duets and dance numbers, then this is for you, or for anyone you know, who likes the aforementioned aspects.

Recommended for those who are musical fans as well as singers and dancers, professional or pleasure.
